Rebranded Posit doubles down on code-first open source, commercial data science for R and Python

To boost its ability to support Python-based data science, the vendor has unleashed several new Python-supporting open-source offerings in the past 10 months.

From the report:
  • “Posit’s profitable growth demonstrates that its strategy is working. This is no mean feat as it involves balancing the values of open-source involvement and community with the commercial reality of running a software business in a crowded market and a turbulent economy.”
  • “The vendor’s Connect publishing platform is a differentiation because it facilitates data-driven decision-making by business personnel, so R- and Python-based data science is actionable. Posit’s status as a public benefit corporation (PBC) run for forces of good is another differentiation.”
  • “To boost its ability to support Python-based data science, the vendor has unleashed several new Python supporting open-source offerings in the past 10 months.” [The company] … is taking three main approaches to selectively build out support for Python in areas where data science teams using R or Python are attempting to address similar issues.”
  • “Posit notes increasing demand from enterprises to easily spin up data science environments as turnkey services in the cloud, with no server set up required.” … “This has led Posit to forge partnerships with AWS SageMaker and Microsoft Azure Machine Learning.”
