We’re thrilled to announce that Posit Connect Cloud has officially entered Beta! This milestone brings new subscription tiers and a suite of enhanced features designed to streamline deployment, improve performance, and provide greater control for you to share data work with others.

What is Connect Cloud?

Connect Cloud is an online platform that makes it easy for you to share all your data applications and documents in one place.

What’s new in Beta?

Watch a brief overview of the updates, or read more below:

1. Standalone view

With the new Standalone View, you can now display and share your content within a cleaner, distraction-free display. Clicking the fullscreen icon on the top navigation bar opens your content in a standalone URL that can easily be shared.

Standalone View also unlocks native deep linking, external link redirects for documents, and the ability to use query parameters with applications—features that were previously constrained when content was displayed in an iFrame.

2. Improved R performance

R-powered Shiny applications, Quarto documents, and R Markdown documents now deploy faster than ever. In just a few seconds, you can go from code in a GitHub repository to a sharable URL, reducing iteration time and improving performance whenever viewers consume your content.

3. More compute power

Connect Cloud now offers increased access to memory, processing power, and active hours across three tailored plans:

  • Free Plan: 4GB memory, 2 CPUs, and 20 active hours—perfect for getting started.
  • Basic Plan: 8GB memory, 2 CPUs, and 100 active hours—ideal for broader dissemination.
  • Enhanced Plan: 16GB memory, 4 CPUs, and 500 active hours—maximum performance for more rigorous workloads.

Memory and CPU are assigned per application or document. Whether you’re prototyping or managing advanced deployments, Connect Cloud provides the compute power you need to succeed.

4. Private GitHub repository support

We understand that sometimes you want to keep your source code private. Basic and Enhanced plans offer support to deploy from private GitHub repositories. You can also take advantage of GitHub’s fine-grain access permissions to control exactly which repositories Connect Cloud can access.

5. Private sharing

Last but not least, users on the Enhanced plan can share content securely using private links with unique, revocable tokens. With this feature, you have complete control over who can access your content. Tokens can be regenerated or revoked at any time, ensuring your content remains secure and under your control.

A new chapter for Connect Cloud

The beta release of Connect Cloud marks a significant step forward in delivering a powerful, user-friendly platform tailored to your deployment and sharing needs. Whether you’re just starting out or have serious deployment requirements, Connect Cloud aims to support you at every stage.
