Building Agentic AI applications with Positron and AWS Strands Agents

AWS Strands Agents is an open source SDK that takes a model-driven approach to building and running AI agents in just a few lines of code. Strands scales from simple to complex agent use cases, and from local development to deployment in production. Streamlit is a popular and straightforward option for quickly turning data analysis into shareable, interactive applications.

When you combine Streamlit with Positron, Posit’s newly designed IDE with data analysis and multi-language development in mind, you have a unified, purpose-built environment for data scientists to develop their application in a streamlined fashion. In this session, we use Positron as our IDE. Within Positron, we will show how developers and data scientists can easily use AWS strands Agents to build an agentic AI Streamlit application.

Shun Mao received his Ph.D. degree in software engineering from South China Normal University, Guangzhou, China, in 2025. His research has been published in journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems (TCSS), Information Processing and Management (IPM), IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies (TLT), IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics (TCE), International Conference on Knowledge Science, Engineering and Management (KSEM), and Pacific Rim International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (PRICAI). His research interests include machine learning, learning analysis, and artificial intelligence in education.
