Blogging is an excellent way to learn, improve your communication skills, and gain exposure in the R and data science communities. In this talk, I will discuss how and why I started blogging, and why you should too. I will guide you through choosing topics, writing your blog using RStudio and blogdown, hosting it on netlify, and sharing your blog with the world. This talk is for you if you've wanted to start a blog on R, data science, or to showcase your data analyses, but don't know where to start.

A 5-minute presentation in our Lightning Talks series
Rebecca is about to finish her PhD in statistics at UC Berkeley. Instead of doing the research that she was supposed to be doing, she spent most of her time writing about data science (in a book that she is co-authoring with her advisor Bin Yu), and blogging about R and statistics. After her PhD, she plans to pursue a career in data science communication, where she will focus on teaching and writing about data science, and tell visual stories with data. In her free time, Rebecca likes to climb rocks and do pottery.
