This talk will use a case study, most likely in hockey, to showcase the many ways in which R and the Tidyverse can be used to analyze sports data as well as the unique priorities and considerations that are involved in applying statistical tools to sports problems.
Namita is currently a Quantitative Analyst for the Philadelphia Eagles. She graduated from Wharton in May 2018 with a B.S. in Economics and a concentration in Statistics. Namita has also written for The Athletic Philadelphia and Hockey Graphs, largely on the topic of entry draft strategy in the NHL. The primary goal of her research is to inform and evaluate team decision-making across sports.
