Dhru Patel is a results-oriented leader with over 14 years of experience in the biopharma industry, specializing in external innovation and business development. In his current role as Sr. Director of External Innovation- BD at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, he spearheads BD prioritization, strategic investment decisions, and leads a team of analysts. He established the function's strategy and process, buildout of the group, and oversaw its execution from concept to completion, resulting in over ~20 deals exceeding $6 billion in deal value. Previously at Vertex, he helped build an elite corporate data science team and led the strategy and operations for the organization helping rollout data science initiatives across the entire organization. Prior to that, he held various roles across medical affairs, drug safety, and regulatory at Vertex, Amgen, BMS, and Celgene.
Dhru received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Touro College of Pharmacy and a Pre-Pharmacy degree from the University of California, Riverside.
