Apply to be an Opportunity Scholar at posit::conf(2026)
At Posit, we believe our community is at its best when it includes a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds. To help make our annual conference more accessible, we are proud to announce that we are providing 40 Opportunity Scholarships for individuals to join us at posit::conf(2026) in Houston, TX.
These scholarships are designed for members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the data science and open-source communities. This includes, but is not limited to: people of color, those with disabilities, elders/older adults, LGBTQ+ folks, and women and minority genders. Curious what it’s like to be a scholar? What the Scholarship Includes
We want our scholars to focus on learning and networking without the burden of travel costs. Each Opportunity Scholarship includes:
- Conference Registration: Full access to the main conference (September 15–16).
- A Workshop of Your Choice: A seat in one of our hands-on workshops (September 14).
- Accommodations: 4 room nights at the conference hotel.
- Travel Support: Reimbursement for travel expenses (flight, train, bus, or cab) and incidentals totaling:
- Domestic travelers: Up to $1,000 for airfare (economy) and $275 for incidentals.
- International travelers: Up to $2,500 for airfare (economy) and $275 for incidentals.
- Exclusive Swag: A little something extra to commemorate the experience!
Important Dates
- Applications Close: Midnight on March 20, 2026 (Anywhere on Earth)
- Decisions Communicated: By mid-April, 2026
- Conference Dates: September 14–16, 2026.
