What are the new subscription prices?

Prices for new subscriptions, which include new users signing up for plans for the first time and existing users changing their plans, go into effect on May 20, 2023, at the following rates:

• Starter: $13/month or $145/year
• Basic: $49/month or $550/year
• Standard: $119/month or $1,330/year
• Professional: $349/month or $3,860/year

When are prices increasing for me?

If you do not have an existing paid subscription to shinyapps.io, any plan purchased on or after May 20, 2023 will be at the new rates.

If you are already on an existing paid subscription, your first renewal on or after August 21, 2023 will renew at the new rates.

What happens if I purchase a new subscription before May 20, 2023?

If you purchase a new subscription or upgrade/downgrade to another paid plan before May 20, 2023, your first renewal on or after August 21, 2023 will renew at the new rates.

Why are prices increasing?

Our mission is to create beloved open-source software for data science that can help people change the world – software like RStudio, the Tidyverse, and Shiny. For the past 14 years, we’ve funded that work by building lasting relationships with our paying customers who find value in our professional tools. We’re raising our prices to ensure we can continue supporting our open-source and professional tools.

Shinyapps.io launched in 2015 and has helped thousands of people share interactive applications with the world. Prices have not increased during this time even as general price levels for goods and services have grown significantly.

Does this change have any impact on the free plan?

No. The free plan on shinyapps.io will continue to be available with the same features.

Are there discounts available on shinyapps.io plans?

Yes. Discounts are available when you choose to purchase an annual plan.

I saw the announced price change. Can I lock in the current annual rate if I purchase a year plan before the transition?

Yes. You can purchase an annual subscription at current prices if you do so before May 20, 2023. This plan would continue for the full year. If you renew the annual subscription after that time, it would renew at the new rates.

What happens to my content if I decide to downgrade to a lower tier or free plan?

If you are using any entitlements that are available only on the paid plans, you will need to:

• Archive all but 5 applications
• Archive, or make public, any private applications
• Reduce the size of your Application Instances to Large or smaller, and remove any additional Application Instances.
• Remove all additional users from the Account (Pro only)

Please note that at this time cancellations take effect immediately and the entitlements in the subscription cycle do not continue until the end of the subscription cycle.  More information is available here.
