Introducing Posit Professional Drivers 2026.04.0: New Version Available!

We're excited to announce the 2026.04.0 update to the Posit Professional Drivers, a set of ODBC data connectors for some of the most popular databases. Posit Professional Drivers are free to use with other professional products like Posit Workbench, Posit Connect, and Posit Package Manager.

Athena

• BrowserSSOOIDC Auth Plugin — IAM Identity Center SSO authentication
• JWT Trusted Identity Propagation — federated identity auth for data mesh use cases

Netezza

• External table support — treat external flat files on the Netezza server as database tables

PostgreSQL

• PostgreSQL 18 support

Snowflake

• Workload identity federation for AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Kubernetes
• TOML config file support for connection parameters
• Bulk fetching performance improvement (multi-threaded)

Teradata

• OIDC token refresh controls — new OIDC_REFRESH and OIDC_REFRESH_PERCENT parameters to control how long tokens are reused before renewal
• Proxy fixes — DSN proxy settings now resolve independently from environment variables; each setting (HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY, etc.) handled separately

• Install the Professional Drivers for use with Posit Connect and Posit Workbench
• Install the Professional Drivers in RStudio Desktop Pro

We strongly encourage all customers to install the latest release of the Posit Professional Drivers.

Upgrading drivers takes minutes and can help prevent security and administrative issues.

Posit Professional Drivers may only be used with other Posit professional software and may not be used on a standalone basis or with other software.
