Posit Academy has always been the place to build real, lasting data science skills. Starting this month, Academy is getting bigger. Our mentor-led data science apprenticeships program is continuing as Academy Apprenticeships, and we're launching a new part of Posit Academy: a free, open library of product courses, hands-on labs, and live workshops available to anyone.

Whether you are new to data science or you are an experienced user who needs to get more value from your current Posit tools, Academy now has a path for you.

Posit Academy: Free, Open, and Built Around Posit Tools

Our new Academy offerings are free, open to all, and designed to help you use Posit tools more effectively, whether you're new to our products or looking to refine your existing workflows. The curriculum is built around Posit products, including Posit Connect, Posit Workbench, Posit Package Manager, and packages like Shiny, with more content currently in development.

You'll find three types of Academy offerings:

Interactive Courses

Learn how to publish content, manage environments, and work more efficiently in your day-to-day practice through self-paced courses that cover core concepts and workflows for Posit products. Go at your own pace, on your own schedule.

Hands-on Labs

Explore and experiment before bringing new skills back to your own environment in our hands-on labs. Hosted on the Instruqt platform, these labs give you a sandboxed environment to practice real data science workflows with Posit products.

Live Virtual Workshops

Learn how to use a variety of Posit tools effectively, enabling you to better apply them in your own work. Through live online workshops, our team pairs live instruction with interactive exercises in an engaging small group format.

Academy Apprenticeships: A Proven Path to Proficiency

Publicly launched in 2022, the Academy Apprenticeship program has helped hundreds of learners across many industries and sectors build lasting data science skills. Focused on learner engagement in a small group environment, we help teams build data science skills together in a community of practice that can persist beyond the duration of the course.

Apprenticeships last 6-8 weeks, with small groups of participants working with an experienced data science mentor. Individuals build skills through asynchronous solo study and weekly live group sessions. Our courses center around industry-specific data science projects, enabling learners to quickly apply concepts to their work. Mentors provide expertise and encouragement, and help participants learn how to troubleshoot and teach themselves new skills.

One Academy, Many Ways to Learn

Posit Academy now serves a wider range of needs, with many ways to learn and a shared underlying goal: helping individuals and organizations build the skills to do their best data science work.

The new Academy content offers accessible, product-focused learning for individuals and teams on a flexible schedule. Academy Apprenticeships can help when your team is embarking on a digital transformation, expanding its code-first data science practice, or onboarding a cohort of new analysts.

Both offerings reflect a commitment to practical, high-quality training for you and your team.
