Positron is now available on Posit Cloud in preview

Since we launched Positron, one question has come up more than almost any other: when is it coming to Posit Cloud? 

The answer is now. Positron is now available on Posit Cloud, in preview.

Positron is available in Posit Cloud alongside RStudio and Jupyter Notebooks, so you can use it without downloading anything. Just sign in to your Posit Cloud account and start a Positron project. No installation, no configuration, no dependency wrangling.

You get the same editor over 100,000 people already use for both R and Python, including a native Data Explorer, a Variables pane, a persistent Console, and everything else that makes Positron the best IDE for doing data science and analysis.

This matters most when you want to use Positron on a machine you don't control, like a library desktop, a Chromebook, a friend or colleague’s computer, or a classroom where twenty students would otherwise spend the first session fixing broken installations. Just sign in, start a project, and start using Positron.

Posit Assistant, our AI coding agent built into Positron, is available inside Positron on Posit Cloud, too. It runs on Posit AI Pass, a subscription to a curated selection of AI models for data science, or you can bring your own model provider.

Every Posit Cloud plan can use Positron, including our free tier.

This is an early preview, so a few things you'd expect from the desktop version aren't here yet, and what is available will keep changing.
