About the instructor
Edgar Ruiz, Software Engineer at Posit PBC, will lead this workshop. With over a decade of experience in the field, Edgar has been instrumental in developing streamlined tools for using R with Databricks. His insights will provide you with valuable knowledge and practical skills.
What you will learn
For over a year, we have focused on improving the R user’s experience when using Databricks. Our improvements to both open-source software and commercial products are geared toward unlocking the potential use of Databricks’ latest updates. This workshop will highlight these enhancements and demonstrate how you can benefit from them.
We will cover the mechanics and best practices of using R to interact with several Databricks services, such as:
- Databricks Connect: New architecture that allows you to interact with Spark remotely
- Databricks SQL Warehouse: Query and explore data on Databricks
- Unity Catalog: Explore best practices for data access and governance
- AI: Interact with Databricks LLM models via R
