Inclusiveness Policy

Posit products have been downloaded by millions of people from all over the world. We know from our own team and countless events that Posit users represent various points on the spectrums of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, abilities, wealth, language, and politics, that can unite and divide people.

We welcome all who come to learn and enjoy the experience without prejudice and ask attendees to help us make the posit::conf a fantastic time for everyone.

 

Diversity Policy

We take pride in the wide-reaching impact our products have on many across the world and expect our events to reflect and encourage that same diversity. Posit continues to celebrate the diversity of our community by reducing or removing some barriers to conference attendance and participation.

Posit also considers diversity as part of the selection criteria for speakers, organizers, and workshop instructors to ensure those that share their knowledge and experience reflect the depth, complexity, and diversity of our community.

 

Accessibility Policy

Posit is also taking several steps to make the conference space as inclusive and accessible as possible, including providing the following:

  • Gender neutral bathrooms
  • A lactation room
  • A quiet room
  • Accessible options for attendee transportation, hotel rooms, and conference events
  • A live streaming option for the general conference session

 

Anti-Harassment Policy

We expect everyone at posit::conf, whether attending in-person or virtually, to contribute to a welcoming, safe, and tolerant environment. Posit is committed to fostering a productive, harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

You agree not to engage in any of the following behavior:

  • Harassing, intimidating or discriminatory verbal, physical or visual conduct in any form or posting inappropriate, graphic or profane images, to include wearing clothing with inappropriate images or slogans;
  • Verbal abuse of any other attendees, including speakers, staff and sponsors; examples of verbal abuse include using sexually explicit language, gestures, or images in any virtual event regardless of platform.
  • Cloaking your identity by misidentifying yourself or using an offensive name.
  • Event organizers may take action to remedy or set right anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.

Any person asked to stop harassing behavior is expected to comply immediately. Any violation of or failure to comply with our anti-harassment policy will result in your removal from the virtual and/or in-person event with no opportunity for a refund.

In the virtual setting, Posit moderators will monitor all public chat channels and sli.do questions. Posit event managers will also be available on site and will not hesitate to act to keep the event a safe space for all.

 

Reporting

 

You can make a personal report:

In person: Contact any posit::conf staff member, identifiable by their staff t-shirt shirt, or visit the conference general information desk.

By email: Send a message to codeofconduct@posit.co; event organizers will respond promptly.

By phone: Call 844-448-1212; this phone number will be monitored for the duration of the event.

Our team will help you contact hotel/venue security, local law enforcement, local support (which could include services and transportation as available), or otherwise respectfully assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event.

When taking a personal report, event staff will ensure you are safe and your report can be made in privacy. They may involve other event staff to ensure your report is managed properly. This can be uncomfortable, but we’ll handle it respectfully and you can bring someone to support you.

After you make a report, Posit will take appropriate action in its reasonable good faith discretion. You may follow up with us by contacting us using the communication method above.

 

Access Credentials; Attendee Badges

In-person attendees will receive access credentials and an attendee badge at check-in. Virtual participants will be provided with personalized credentials allowing them access to the virtual event. These credentials are personal and non-transferable. Non-registered individuals and minors will not be able to access the event, unless upon prior agreement with Posit. 

Please be aware that your personal data (first and last name, job title, and email address) is included in your attendee badge.  You are responsible for ensuring the security of your attendee badge and access credentials and for any loss or misplacement of your badge and/or access credentials. 

 

Data Protection Policy

When you register for posit::conf we collect certain personal information necessary for registration and payment, providing you with access credentials and an attendee badge, and communicating with you about the conference and Posit. This information may be shared with posit::conf staff and instructors for the following purposes:  

  • Posit:conf staff – your personal information is shared with Posit staff for the purposes of communicating with you about the conference and Posit.
  • Instructors – your personal information is shared with Posit staff for the purposes of communicating with you about the courses you have registered for.
  • Access Credentials; Attendee Badges – your personal information is included in your access credentials and your attendee badge.
 

All personal information you provide as part of your registration, or otherwise submit to Posit at or during the event, shall be used in accordance with Posit’s Privacy Policy accessible at: https://posit.co/about/privacy-policy/. The Posit Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information we receive from you. Please review our Privacy Policy carefully. We never sell your personal information and will not use your personal information except as provided in our Privacy Policy.

Any communication or exchange of information or data directly between you and any exhibitor, event sponsor or third party service provider (“Third Parties”), including without limitation through scanning of your attendee badge, is made by you voluntarily and in your sole discretion. If you permit a Third Party  to scan your badge, you are agreeing to share your personal data with that Third Party  and you are authorizing the transmission of your personal data to the Third Party. Any personal data you share with a Third Party is subject to the Third Party’s  privacy policy and not Posit’s privacy policy. Before sharing your personal data with a Third Party or permitting a Third Party  to scan your badge, you should review the privacy policy and practices of the Third Party, which may be different from Posit’s. Any sharing of your personal data with a Third Party  is done by you voluntarily and you bear the risk of any unauthorized access to, use of, loss of or other disclosure of your personal data you share with a Third Party. You acknowledge and agree that Posit has no responsibility for such data and you will look solely to such Third Party with respect to any claims which may arise out of your sharing your data with the Third Party and/or the Third Party’s use or other processing of your data.

 

Event Photos and Videos

At posit::conf attendees may also reasonably expect, as at any public event, to appear in photos and/or videos taken by attendees and/or by the event’s photographer. These photos and videos may be shared with others at the conference and those following it online. We may also use these photos and videos to market and promote the conference on our website and other marketing materials. By participating in the conference you hereby consent to the foregoing and agree not to bring any claims against Posit for use of photos or videos that may include you. At registration, you may elect to opt-out of being in any publicly shared photos by asking a staff member for a “no-photo” lanyard.

Content Policy

All content contained at the event and in the virtual environment is copyrighted either by Posit  or the provider of the content. Its capture in any format, use and/or reproduction outside the virtual event is strictly prohibited without express permission from the content owner(s).

In addition, third party speakers do not confer ownership of their materials in any way to the event and speakers must opt-in to publication of their materials and have the right to request materials be removed.

 

COVID-19

Posit takes the health and safety of all posit::conf attendees seriously. In accordance with current CDC recommendations, we will follow all appropriate COVID-19 guidance to ensure your safety at the event. For special accommodations or concerns, please  contact us at conf@posit.co.
